Situated just around the corner from each Court in Dumbarton, and from the District Court in Helensburgh, our experienced Court practitioners are ideally placed to accept instructions, even at short notice, to appear in all manner of civil and criminal hearings. Our practice is to attend and report to principal agents on the same day if at all possible, and to regularly review our agency fees to ensure that they are kept reasonable. We are also happy to ensure wherever possible that the cases of our principal agents will not be dismissed for lack of appearance, and we will telephone immediately for instructions if necessary.
Civil Appearances
Our Court practitioners normally attend the Civil Court in Dumbarton every day of the week. We have great experience in covering contentious and non-contentious work in Court for a great number of principal agents throughout Scotland. We are available to cover Motions, Options Hearings, Procedural Hearings, Diet Roll Callings, Proof Diets, Debates, Interim Hearings, Child Welfare Hearings, and indeed anything else requiring professional attendance. We can also assist in the administrative side of Court, for example, liaising with Sheriff Clerks or borrowing up Court Process. We always put to good use our familiarity with the Dumbarton Sheriffs and Court practice, and if you instruct our Firm locally, you will enjoy the benefit of our proven track record in achieving the desired result and in reporting back on a same day basis.
Criminal Appearances
We are also able to attend criminal diets in Dumbarton and Helensburgh. Douglas Thomson, our resident Solicitor Advocate, is more than experienced to act locally for principal agents, whether it be at Custody or Invitation Diets, Intermediate or Trial Diets, Deferred Sentence Diets, Debates, Proofs or again, anything else which requires an appearance.
High Court Work
As a Solicitor Advocate, however, Mr. Thomson is also happy to accept instructions in any High Court of Justiciary matter. He is a Tribunal Chairman for the Parole Board for Scotland, has written numerous articles on crime in the Scots Law Times, and has appeared as Counsel several times in the High Court and in the Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland specialising in criminal defence and appeals, including more recently a high profile murder case.
